General Meeting – June 3, 2014
Location and Time:
  Meeting held at Carroll County Office Building, 225 N. Center Street, Room 003-004 Lower Level, Westminster, MD and called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Darlene Welsh, President.
  Janet Breeding, Carolyn Garber, Bridget McCullough, Dave Radcliffe, Darlene Welsh, Joe Zentgraf, Tina Shupp.

Secretary's Report:
  Motion by Bridget McCullough to approve the minutes of the meeting held on May 6, 2014; second by Dave Radcliffe. Motion passed

Equestrian Center Report: Darlene Welsh
  Bridget McCullough reported the change of date from June 8 to September 21 for the CCEC 30th Anniversary Reunion and Potluck Picnic.
Equestrian Center Maintenance Report:
  Peggy Miller provided the following report: Thank you to Joe Zentgraf for dragging the rings for two shows and making the necessary repairs to “Joe’s Playground:” to Janet Breeding for helping several times with mowing; to Bridget McCullough for spraying both rings outside with weed killer; to Dave Radcliffe for servicing the mower; to Mike Roche for helping Bob Miller do a major repair job on a jump and a minor repair on another jump; to Carroll County Western Circuit for dragging the rings for each show and dragging the rings after their shows are over and for doing a great job on clean up; to Bob Miller for priming/painting the new (blue) picnic table and for replacing and repairing boards at the entrance. Peggy Miller asked for help with weed eating/mowing at the Center in preparation for the upcoming shows.
  Tina Shupp provided a copy of the Severe Weather Policy (effective 3/9/10.) Tina reported July is Recreation and Parks Month/Ball Park Pursuit features 8 parks in Carroll County. Discount Oriole’s tickets are available through Recreation and Parks Office 410-386-2103.
Old Business
  Gillis Falls Trail Work Day 05/10/14
Peggy Miller provided the following report: Janet Breeding mowed; John Arnold and I cleared trails and Jon drained 5 large holes of standing water on the trail out from the party area. Equestrian Center parking lot is still eroded/rutted. Tina will contact Bureau of Facilities.

Morgan Run Trail Work Day 05/18/14
Carolyn Garber thanked Dave Radcliffe, Paul & Marilyn Cross for mowing, Jessica & Mike Dustin for the bobcat work, and Joe Dragan, Amy Kimble, Ellen Styers, Roger Beveridge, Joanne Sowa, Art Thacher, and Mickey Rogers for their hard work! Thanks to Randy Hulse and Theone Andrew for their work prior to 5/18/14. Several blocked trails were reopened and mowing was able to be done.

TROT Meet and Greet 05/28/14
Approximately 28 members of TROT and CCEC board members Janet Breeding, Carolyn Garber, Nancy Hoffa, Kristy Kraus, Bridget McCullough and Darlene Welsh met at the home of Kyle Jossi, Two Daughters Farm, in Sykesville, Md. Judy Thacher, TROT Vice President; Maria Schwartz, TROT President; Priscilla Huffman, TROT Board member and current Baltimore area Coordinator; Amy Kimble, Adopt a Trail coordinator; Lisa Troutman, Trail Ride Coordinator welcomed all. Sustainability of trails and trail stewardship was discussed. A plea for help in maintaining trails was extended to all.

Piney Run Trail Work Day 5/31/14
Bridget McCullough thanked Steve Weaver, Linda Polzin, Robert Polzin and David Bacca for their help. Bridget reported the first bridge closest to the parking area is not suitable for use due to severe deterioration and rotted wood; an email describing the condition was sent to Brad Rogers, Bureau Chief of Parks and Sandy Buterbaugh, Piney Run Park Superintendent. Discussion followed pertaining to requesting that a sign be posted stating the bridge is unsafe or removing the bridge and rerouting the trail.

Self Help Project Request
Entrance/Exit at Equestrian Center Peggy Miller has asked for a volunteer to coordinate this project. Darlene Welsh reported Utiliquest will mark the utility lines. (If you are interested in helping with this project

New Business
  MD Horse Council News
Janet Breeding called attention to page 8, 9 and 78 in the June issue of the Equiery.

Maryland Horse Council – Membership Renewal
Motion to renew CCEC membership in MHC at a cost of $100 by Carolyn Garber; second by Darlene Welsh. Motion passed.

4-H and FFA Fair Silent Auction Items
Darlene Welsh will accept donations of items for the CCEC basket of goodies (including a free membership to the CCE C) to be provided to the 4-H and FFA Fair Silent Auction held July 26 – August 1, 2014. Please bring your items for donation to the July meeting.

Restaurant Social 2x a Year
Darlene Welsh suggested March 2015 and October 2015. Date and location will be determined.

Request for 16’ gate/2 new posts in Ring 2
To be discussed at the July 1 meeting.

CCEC Bylaws were distributed
