General Meeting September 6, 2016

  Meeting held at Carroll County Office Building, 225 N. Center Street, Room 003-004 Lower Level, Westminster, MD and called to order at 7:40 by Darlene Welsh, President.

  Minutes from June meeting not available.
Treasurer’s Report:
  See attached report for August 2016. Peggy reported the new Federal ID number has been obtained. The $10,000 CD with BB&T was renewed at .75% for 13 months
Equestrian Center Report: Darlene Welsh
  Lynda Arnold reported the Center has been the target of vandals; wheels were removed from the portable Judges Stands, the portable toilets were damaged/pushed over and the newest jump on the cross country course was damaged. Reports have been made to Sheriff’s Department of Carroll County.

Lynda Arnold also reported that the gates to the rings were again found open/unlocked. Effective 01/2017 the locks will be changed. Notice will be sent to all registered individual users; new rules/release forms will need to be submitted and users will be required to be members of the CCEC as determined at earlier meeting. Thanks to Bridget McCullough for spraying the weeds and mowing the jump run.
  Tina announced the Carroll County Therapeutic Recreation is a beneficiary organization of the Westminster Fallfest 2016; volunteers are needed at Fallfest. Self-Help Project requests are due/to be presented to Recreation and Parks Board on 09/28/16. The Fall Program guide was distributed and is available online.
Old Business
  Morgan Run Trail Work Day 9/3/16
Carolyn Garber thanked Theone Andrew & Randy Hulse, Marty Lanham, Beth & Pete Stenger and Dave Radcliffe (and his tractor/mower) for reopening several trails that were almost closed with overgrowth. Thanks to Marty Lanham for providing lunch!

Carroll County 4-H & FFA Fair
Darlene Welsh reported the CCEC contributed a basket to the Silent Auction.

Due to the formula used to determine the amount granted for equipment (25% from grant/75% to come from CCEC) and the cost of the new tractor ($28,000) the application not submitted.

New Business
  Harrison Mule Days 9/30 – 10/2 at Equestrian Center
Peggy Miller will collect items for donation to the Silent Auction/CCEC cap will be included.

Social Dinner
Tuesday, 10/18/16 at Winfield Inn, 1616 W. Old Liberty Rd.,Sykesville. RSVP to Darlene Welsh by 10/17/16.

Hunting Season 2016-2017
Calendars have been approved by Candice Haskins of DNR Wildlife; are in production and will be distributed and posted.

21st Annual Horse World Expo
January 20-22, 2017 – Motion by Carolyn Garber not to participate this year; motion second by Janet Breeding. Motion passed.

Volunteer of the Year
Motion by Carolyn Garber to recognize Mickey Rogers; second by Janet Breeding. Motion passed. Carolyn will contact Mickey and submit the information to Recreation and Parks.
