General Meeting May 3, 2016
Location and Time:
  Meeting held at Carroll County Office Building, 225 N. Center Street, Room 003-004 Lower Level, Westminster, MD and called to order at 7:30 by Darlene Welsh, President.
  Lynda Arnold, Janet Breeding, Carolyn Garber, Peggy Miller, Dave Radcliffe, Darlene Welsh, Tina Shupp.
Volunteer Hours
  April 2016: 66.5 hours
Secretary's Report:
  Motion to approve minutes of March 1, 2016 by Peggy Miller; second by Janet Breeding.) No minutes of April 5 due to special presentation.) Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report:
  See attached report for April 2016.
Equestrian Center Report: Darlene Welsh
  Lynda Arnold reported the Center has been mowed twice to date; discussion was held regarding instructions that need to be communicated to the mowing contractor/employees. It also appears someone tried to move the Judges Stands. The Carroll County Western Circuit Show scheduled for 4/17/16 was cancelled.

Lynda Arnold also reported that the gates to the rings are frequently being left open/unlocked; it is necessary to change the locks effective July 1, 2016. Motion to send notice of change and new rules/release forms and instructions on how to operate the locks by Dave Radcliffe; second by Peggy Miller. Motion passed.

Peggy Miller reported the flat tire from the tractor has been repaired/thanks to Gil Breeding. Peggy advised there is a
  Tina provided information on the Recreation Council Accreditation Application that was distributed to all Recreation Councils. The Department is requesting updated information such as bylaws, current list of officers/board of directors, list of sponsored activities and updated website information. Tina announced on June 3 the first annual Park Legacy Golf Outing will be held. Park Pursuit will be held in July – watch for details.
New Business
  Social Dinner
on 3/15/16 at Maggie’s – Darlene Welsh reported 7 members enjoyed the meal and the company that evening. The next Social Dinner will be scheduled in October/details TBA.

4-H Therapeutic Riding Program Horse Fair
held Sunday, 3/20/16 from 9:00 – 2:00 – Carolyn Garber reported the event seemed to be well attended.

CCPL Outdoor Sportacular
held Saturday, 4/9/16 from 11:00 – 1:00 – Janet Breeding reported the event was held inside due to the weather; the main speaker cancelled; inquiries came from very interested library staff.

Union Mills Trail Work Day
held on 4/16/16 – Report provided by Howard Lanham thanked Mickey Rogers, Mark Schmidt and Ivy Smink for helping with the trail along the stream and also clearing a section of “thorn hill.”

Gillis Falls Trail Work Day
held on 4/30/16 – Peggy Miller reported she was the only person that day/she worked on clearing the jump run of debris. Thanks to Jon Arnold who worked on the trails on a different day to remove two trees that had fallen across the trail.

Carroll County 4-H & FFA Fair
Darlene Welsh announced she is accepting donations for the silent auction basket to be supplied to the Fair to be held July 30 – August 5, 2016. Bring items to the June or July meeting or contact Darlene The basket will also include a CCEC cap and 1 year membership.

Carroll County Forage List
Janet Breeding reported a newsletter is available from Carroll County Dept. of Economic Development that lists informational agriculture related meetings/seminars as well as listings for Hay-Straw-Feed. Go to website: List to read/download. To receive the monthly newsletter, send an email to and provide your email address, name, farm name and address.
