General Meeting – July 1, 2014
Location and Time:
  Meeting held at Carroll County Equestrian Center, 2512 Grimville Road, Mt. Airy, MD and called to order at 6:55 p.m. by Darlene Welsh, President.

Secretary's Report:
  Correction to minutes of 6/3/14
Piney Run Trail “Work Day 5/31/14 – “Bridget reported the first bridge closest to the parking area is not suitable for use…” Amend to “Bridget reported the first bridge closest to the parking area is not suitable for use by horses…”

Restaurant Social 2 x a Year – “Darlene Welsh suggested March 2015 and October 2015.” Amend to “Darlene Welsh suggested October 2014 and March 2015.” Motion by Peggy Miller to approve the minutes of the meeting held on June 3, 2014 as corrected; second by Jessica Dustin. Motion passed.

Equestrian Center Report: Darlene Welsh
  Bridget McCullough reported CCWC is scheduled for 7/20; no reservations for the month of August; CCWC scheduled for 9/7 and 9/21 for the CCEC 30th Anniversary Reunion Fun Day and Potluck Picnic. Bridget reported the bridge in “Joe’s Playground” needs to be replaced with pressure treated wood; the table supports also need to be replaced with pressure treated wood. The overhanging tree branches on the perimeter of the cross country jumps was discussed. Bridget volunteered to coordinate a Self-Help Project (if necessary) to use professional tree trimmers; will obtain two estimates and provide more information at the August meeting.
Equestrian Center Maintenance Report:
  Peggy Miller reported the “party area” is again filled with debris and tree limbs that have been dumped. Thank you to Bridget McCullough for mowing; to Gil & Janet Breeding for hay field mowing. Thanks to Tina Shupp for contacting Bureau of Facilities and to County Employees for making repairs/improvements to the driveway entrance parking area.

Old Business
  Morgan Run Trail Work Day 06/07/14 (National Trails Day)
Carolyn Garber thanked Dave Radcliffe (for mowing), Karen & Frank Durilla, Marty & Howard Lanham, Todd Laudeman, Mickey Rogers & Robin Eason and TROT members Alice Altstatt, Amy Kimble, Laury Lobel, Butch Myers, Nancy Osgood, Maria Schwartz, Art & Judy Thacher, for their hard work! Several blocked trails were reopened and mowing was able to be done.

4-H and FFA Fair Silent Auction Items
Darlene Welsh accepted donations of items for the CCEC basket of goodies (including a CCEC cap and free membership to the CCEC) to be provided to the 4-H and FFA Fair Silent Auction held July 26 – August 1, 2014.

Self Help Project Request
Entrance/Exit at Equestrian Center Lynda Arnold volunteered to coordinate this Self-Help project.

New Business
  MD Horse Council News
The July issue of The Equiery was not available at the meeting.

Facebook Photo Contest
Darlene Welsh announced the winner for the Spring Season was Anna Weaver.

Request for 16’ gate/2 new posts in Ring 2
Peggy Miller reported she met with Ken Stockdale to discuss the request. No action to be taken at this time.
