General Meeting September 2, 2014
Location and Time:
  Meeting held at Carroll County Office Building, 225 N. Center Street, Room 003-004 Lower Level, Westminster, MD and called to order at 7:35 p.m. by Darlene Welsh, President.
Attendance:
  Janet Breeding, Carolyn Garber, Nancy Hoffa, Bridget McCullough, Peggy Miller, Dave Radcliffe, Darlene Welsh, Joe Zentgraf, Tina Shupp.
Volunteer Hours
  August 2014: 110 hours
Secretary's Report:
  Motion by Dave Radcliffe to approve the minutes of the meeting held on August 5, 2014; second by Peggy Miller. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report:
  Janet Breeding reported the August invoice for the portable toilet at Morgan Run has been paid; $600 was received from Southern States (Platinum level sponsorship for 2014.)Thank you was mailed to Jessica Morton, Southern States rep. Report for August 2014 View Here
Equestrian Center Report: Darlene Welsh
  Bridget McCullough reported CCWC is scheduled for 9/7 and 9/21 is the CCEC 30th Anniversary Reunion Fun Day and Potluck Picnic; Harrison Mule Days is October 3,4,5.
Equestrian Center Maintenance Report:
  Peggy Miller reported the Center was very busy during the month of August with many riders using the trails, cross country course and rings as well as many families hiking and riding bicycles. Bob & Peggy Miller did the mowing. Thanks to BBX Fence Supply (Rt. 27 between Mt. Airy and Taylorsville) for donating two 8’ half posts for the new jump Bob is making for the cross country course.
RECREATION AND PARKS REPORT
  Tina Shupp reported Lisa Carroll has received grant money for first aid training online. Individuals pay up front and get reimbursed upon completion of the course. Contact Lisa Carroll, Chief of Bureau of Recreation at 410-286-2103 for more information.
Old Business
  Tree Trimming at the Equestrian Center
Bridget McCullough reported DuBois Tree Service is scheduled to do the tree work on 09/25/14; a copy of their license and insurance is on file with the Equestrian Center Manager.

Trot Meet & Greet
held on 08/26/14 at home of TROT member Kyle Jossi – no report

30th Anniversary/Fun Day/Reunion Potluck Picnic on 09/21/14
Flyers were distributed earlier, special mailing to previous members, to all who had been recognized as “Volunteer of the Year,” and to all users of the Center. Volunteers signed up for food/drink donations.

Peggy Miller advised there is nothing to report at this time.

Donations for Harrison Mule Days Silent Auction
CCEC Cap and 1 year membership will be included with the items. Peggy Miller volunteered to prepare the donations.

Maryland Horse Industry Board
Darlene Welsh reported the MHIB is accepting grant applications until October 3, 2014. CCEC will not submit an application at this time.

FACEBOOK
Linda Polzin reported to Darlene Welsh that the Facebook “Likes” are increasing.

Gillis Falls Trails
An email was received from someone who hiked the Gillis Falls trails, found graffiti on the remnants of the buildings there and asked if they could paint over the graffiti. Tina Shupp advised to forward the email to Jeff Degitz for reply.

Board of Directors 2014
Darlene Welsh reported Kristy Kraus resigned from the Board.

CCEC Website
Bridget McCullough reported “Google” search page indicates the Carroll County Equestrian Council website “may be hacked.” “Yahoo” and “Bing” search pages do not show that message. Carolyn will contact CCEC Webmaster, Chris Keegan.

In Memory Of
Motion by Carolyn Garber to donate $50 to Luther Memorial Church in memory of Kathy Sarbaugh who passed away on 08/13/14; second by Bridget McCullough. Motion passed.
