General Meeting September 5, 2017
Location and Time:
  Meeting held at Carroll County Office Building, 225 N. Center Street, Room 003-004 Lower Level, Westminster, MD and called to order at 7:30 by Darlene Welsh, President.

Secretary's Report:
  Motion to approve minutes of May 2, 2017 by Janet Breeding; second by Darlene Welsh. Motion passed. Motion to approve minutes of June 6, 2017 by Janet Breeding; second by Darlene Welsh. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report:
  See attached report for August 2017. Peggy Miller reported the CD with BB&T is due to mature. Motion to renew with BB&T by Carolyn Garber; second by Janet Breeding. Motion passed. Equestrian Center Report: Lynda Arnold
  The Carroll County Western Circuit show on 08/13/17 was cancelled and will be held on 09/10/17.

Peggy Miller reported the storage container has been vandalized again (discovered 09/04/17) and the hinge was damaged. She also mentioned the hay field needs to be mowed before Harrison Mule Days. Lynda Arnold to contact Joe Colson regarding the hay field.
  Tina Shupp reported the Volunteer of the Year and Volunteer Hall of Fame nomination forms will be sent out. Date/location for Volunteer of the Year program to be determined.

Volunteer Hall of Fame 2017 – Motion by Janet Breeding to nominate Albert “Sonny” Biddison; second by Darlene Welsh. Motion passed.

Volunteer of the Year 2017 – Motion by Carolyn Garber to recognize Frank & Karen Durilla & Buddy; second by Janet Breeding. Motion passed.
Old Business
  Morgan Run Trail Work Day on 5/7/17
Carolyn Garber thanked Dave Radcliffe for mowing that day. Three people worked until rained out after 2 hours.

Morgan Run Trail Work Day 6/3/17
Carolyn Garber thanked Randy Hulse, Frank & Karen Durilla & Buddy, & Marty Lanham.

Piney Run Trail Work Day 06/10/17
Email report from Bridge McCullough indicated the trails are in generally good shape; weeds were trimmed and two trees that were blocking the trail were removed. The bridge that continues to be reported as unsafe continues to rot in place. Another bridge on the south side trail from the parking lot now has one broken board. Thanks to Bridget McCullough, Steve Weaver and Linda Polzin for their work. Tina Shupp will report the unsafe conditions of the bridges to Rec and Parks/Facilities. Morgan Run Trail Work Day 7/9/17
Carolyn Garber thanked the following for the “Best Trail Work Day Ever:” Dave Radcliffe and Mike Gaffney mowed; Theone Andrew & Randy Hulse, Joe Dragan, Frank & Karen Durilla & Buddy, Sue Donaldson, Paul Farinholt, Kyle Jossi, Howard & Marty Lanham, Gina Miller, Carolyn Rhodes, Lynda Rogers, Mickey Rogers, Beth & Pete Stenger, Donna Stillwell, Nick Yoder. The group photo was submitted to Patapsco Valley State Park and will be used on the CCEC Facebook page and website.

Morgan Run Trail Work Day 09/02/17
Carolyn Garber reported the work day was cancelled to due rain.

Special Program 08/01/17 at Equestrian Center
Toby Gibbon and the American Mustang. Carolyn Garber reported a thank you was mailed to Toby for bringing 3 three mustangs and providing a very information program.

Maryland Horse Council
Renewal form for dues was received. Email/phone vote was obtained from officers/board of directors to renew for 2017-2018. Peggy Miller issued check for $100.00 to renew.

Contributions for Morgan Run Portable Toilet
Carolyn Garber reported thank you notes were sent to Theone Andrew/Randy Hulse and to Central Maryland Saddle Club for their donation.

New Business
  Double Sided Directional
Peggy Miller reported the double sided directional road sign with arrows at Watersville Road and Flag Marsh Road is missing. Since Harrison Mule Days will be held 09/29/17, it is imperative to replace it as soon as possible. Tina Shupp will forward the request to Facilities/Roads Department.
